WHEN I was growing up, I used to feel offended when people commented on my height...I still did until recently when I started embracing my tallness, in ways more than one. If ever anyone would ask about me, someone would respond, "Which Ayanda, the tall one?" I never took notice of the significant of my tallness, not only in height but also in the perspective of life as a whole since I was distracted by the murmurs of the turtle in my space.
The giraffe I am born to be: In every person’s life there are giraffes and there are turtles, both occupying the same space and fighting for the same eating spot. The only difference is that both eat on the level of their vision. The turtle on the ground and the giraffe on the tall tree.
Right where the giraffe is standing, eating from the top of the tree, the turtle is also eating grass on the ground, right between its (giraffe) legs. Whenever the turtle looks up to catch the view, all it sees is between the legs of a giraffe, since that is the ONLY level to it’s vision of which it's not how the giraffe is as a whole.
Should the giraffe then be distracted and offended by the level of the vision of a turtle? NO, it should continue keeping its head up high in the air and eat the best sun kissed leaves and the sweetest fruits of the tall tree.
Dear giraffe, the turtle is NOT lying about what it sees in between your legs…only difference is, that’s not the complete picture of who you are. Do not go down to the ground and start arguing with it, you may break your physique. Keep eating from the top of the tree and enjoy the highest views while it keeps on being distracted by your view. Even better, pick the best fruit from that tree, drop it to the ground so it also tastes the juiciness of the life it would never ever had if it was not for your kindness, just because you can.
It is then up to you to move as gracefully as you can from it or lower your head to it’s level and risk causing major damage to your whole physique.
